15-Minute Honey-Sriracha Glazed Salmon

|

This high-speed dinner utilizes the intense heat of a broiler to glaze salmon in under 10 minutes. The result is a sticky, spicy-sweet crust that rivals any slow-cooked protein, making it the ultimate solution for a gourmet weeknight meal.

Why This Recipe Works

The high sugar content of the honey creates instant caramelization under the broiler, while the Sriracha provides a clean, acidic heat that cuts through the richness of the salmon. By using individual fillets instead of a whole side of fish, we maximize the surface area for the glaze to cling to.

Ingredients

  • 2 Salmon fillets (approx. 170g / 6oz each)
  • 30ml (2 tbsp) Honey
  • 15ml (1 tbsp) Sriracha (or Gochujang for a deeper Korean twist)
  • 15ml (1 tbsp) Soy sauce
  • 5ml (1 tsp) Toasted sesame oil
  • 1 clove Garlic, finely grated
  • Optional Twist: 5g (1 tsp) Taco seasoning rubbed on the salmon before glazing for a smoky Mexican-Asian fusion
  • 5g (1 tsp) Black sesame seeds for garnish
  • 1 Lime, cut into wedges
  • 200g (2 cups) Baby spinach or steamed bok choy (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Broiler Set your oven to the highest broiler setting. Line a small baking sheet with foil and lightly grease with oil to prevent the honey from sticking.
  2. Whisk the Glaze In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, Sriracha, soy sauce, sesame oil, and grated garlic until smooth.
  3. Season the Fish Pat the salmon fillets dry. If using the Optional Twist, rub the taco seasoning onto the flesh side now. Place the fillets skin-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. First Glaze Brush half of the honey-sriracha mixture over the top and sides of the salmon fillets.
  5. Broil Place the pan 10-15cm (4-6 inches) away from the broiler element. Broil for 4 minutes.
  6. Second Glaze & Finish Remove the pan briefly, brush the remaining glaze over the salmon, and return to the broiler for another 3–4 minutes. The salmon is done when the edges are slightly charred and the center is opaque.
  7. Garnish Sprinkle with black sesame seeds and a fresh squeeze of lime juice. Serve immediately over a bed of spinach or steamed greens.

Tips & Variations

  • Watch the Heat: Broilers vary in intensity. If the honey begins to smoke excessively, move the rack down one level.
  • Substitution: Maple syrup can be used in place of honey for a slightly more earthy sweetness.
  • Prep Shortcut: Double the glaze recipe and keep it in a jar in the fridge for up to 2 weeks to use on shrimp or chicken.
  • Make it a Feast: Serve this spicy salmon alongside my 15-Minute Miso-Butter Scrambled Egg Bowls, or 15-Minute Garlicky Broccoli Pasta for a complete high-protein feast.

Storage

  • Storage: Leftovers make an excellent cold salad topper the next day. Store in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
