Bright, citrusy, and just spicy enough, this is the quick slaw. Three ingredients, no chopping, two minutes of work.
Ingredients
- 8 cups (approx. 700 g) prepared coleslaw mix
- 480 ml (2 cups) fresh orange segments with juice
- 1 tbsp sriracha
Instructions
- 1Combine all ingredients in a large bowl.
- 2Toss well to coat.
- 3Taste and adjust heat with more sriracha if needed.
Cook's Note
Tear or roughly cut the orange segments so the juice releases into the slaw, whole segments sit on top instead of dressing it.
Best Served With
Alongside fish tacos, grilled shrimp, or any dish that benefits from a light, citrusy crunch.
Why This Recipe Works
Fresh orange juice doubles as the dressing and the acid, cutting through the cabbage and making the slaw taste bright. Sriracha adds a low, slow heat that builds without overwhelming the sweetness of the orange.
Make It Yours
- Add a small handful of chopped cilantro for freshness
- Add a drizzle of sesame oil for a more Asian-leaning flavor
- Add julienned jalapeño if you want more heat with texture
Leftover Strategy
Best eaten fresh. Wilts significantly within 2 hours.

Pairing
A light lager or a cold agua fresca. Both complement the citrus without fighting the sriracha.
